Dan's Haiku

Haiku set to
Bobby McFarrin's Circlesong One

play the mp3 file (7.1 mb)

the moan of the diesel giant
conductor bellows
all aboard

July sunset
the horizon ablaze
desperately we race to catch it.

gentle rocking
of mother and train
hushes the infant

silver rails glisten
oily black
under the new moon

dining car's final call
the last slice of apple pie
calls no one

train whistles
its own song
marks the passing towns

the insomniacs wander
from car to car
going nowhere while going somewhere

on black velvet
a cloudless night sky

amber morning light
the Aroma of coffee

the conductor calls
        end of the line
home at last
