Why did I write haiku?

To me, it was taking that one simple moment and having the chance to write it down. Not just in poetry form, but haiku, a way that uses so few words but is still able to create an event for me. To find that right moment you just open your eyes a little wider and try to see everything from a simple light.

light filled stage
two sparkling eyes
watching every move

sunset over
the empty river park . . .
click of a lighter

a stranger
at the door
. . . the dog’s collar

quilt under the stars
    wine bottle candle
        goes out

empty field
silver flower
twisting on my finger

sun rises
on the beach
a lone jogger's tracks

rows on rows
of books,
my quiet corner
