2014 Fundraiser

The James Millikin Homestead proudly announces their 2014 Fundraiser Some Enchanted Evening- Musical Revue of the Songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein. This stunning collection of compositions places five Millikin University student performers in a theatrical setting- first "backstage," where the songs are sung as personal interplay , and then "onstage." Opportunities to dance and sing along are included. It takes place Saturday, October 25, 2014 in the lower level of the Millikin University Richards Treat University Center for a cost of $85 per person with a cash bar. Children's Tea - Saturday, June 13, 2015

The James Millikin Homestead Children's Tea is for boys and girls of all ages. Children are welcome to bring their favorite stuffed animal, doll, or action figure to join them for tea and refreshments!

Tea and cold beverages will be served along with finger sandwiches, fruits, and sweets for children and adults to enjoy.

Activities for children include a tour of the Millikin Homestead with a fun "Seek and Find" activity as they seek and learn all about the Millikin Homestead and the daily lives of Mr. & Mrs. Millikin.

Each child will have the opportunity to decorate a picture frame and have a professional portrait taken with their stuffed animal, doll, or action figure they bring with them to the tea. There is no additional fee for the portrait and it will be mailed to them after the event.

The cost for the Children's Tea is $8.00 for children and $12.00 for adults. Checks may be made payable to the James Millikin Homestead and mailed to:

Mr. and Mrs. Millikin Days - Tuesday, April 28 - Friday, May 1, 2015

Mr. and Mrs. Millikin Days are being held Tuesday, April 28 through Friday, May 1, 2014. All third grade students from throughout Decatur and Macon County are invited guests for a tour through the Millikin's late 19th century home.  Mr. and Mrs. Millikin greet them along with many members of their staff. The cast of characters are portrayed by Homestead volunteers.  This is the thirty-fifth year that the Millikin Days have been held for the area school children. Last year 707 children with their teachers and chaperones attended this special event.

Victorian Christmas Tea - Sunday, December 13, 2015

A tea and open house for the public is held annually in December. Delicious refreshments are served, and music groups from the Decatur area entertain the guests. Mrs. Millikin's edibles and delectables will be featured with many unusual seasonal decorations on display.

The James Millikin Homestead Board will host their annual Holiday Open House this year Sunday, December 13th. The Homestead will be open for members and the public from 1pm-4pm. Christmas punch, cookies, and music are free for those who wish to come and enjoy the beauty of the Homestead festively decorated for the holiday season.

We will also be having our Sweet Treats Bakery with wonderful homemade baked goods for sale. All the items will be already packaged and wrapped for gift giving or for you to take home and enjoy with your family.
