2014 Fundraiser

The James Millikin Homestead proudly announces their 2014 Fundraiser Some Enchanted Evening- Musical Revue of the Songs by Rodgers & Hammerstein. This stunning collection of compositions places five Millikin University student performers in a theatrical setting- first "backstage," where the songs are sung as personal interplay , and then "onstage." Opportunities to dance and sing along are included. It takes place Saturday, October 25, 2014 in the lower level of the Millikin University Richards Treat University Center for a cost of $85 per person with a cash bar. Victorian Doll Tea

Young ladies are invited along with their dolls, mothers, grandmothers, aunts and sisters to attend the James B. Millikin Homestead Victorian Doll Tea Party.  Mrs. Millikin entertains guests upstairs with a story then tea, sandwiches and desserts are served.  Door prizes chances are available, too!  The tea is recommended for ages 5 years and up.

Adults accompanying the young ladies may take part in a raffle whose prizes include rentals of the James Millikin Homestead, 125 North Pine, Decatur.  All proceeds support the preservation and educational efforts of the this nationally registered historic place.

Mr. and Mrs. Millikin Days

A program which all third grade classes in Macon County are invited to tour the Homestead. Almost 1,000 students take part in this hour-long field trip. Life at the turn of the century is re-enacted, which gives the students appreciation for the way things were a hundred years ago. About 40 volunteers dress in period costume playing the parts of Mr. and Mrs. Millikin, the upstairs and downstairs maids, cook, dining room maid, and organist. The outing is an annual event that began in 1979.

Victorian Christmas Tea

A tea and open house for the public is held annually in December. Delicious refreshments are served, and music groups from the Decatur area entertain the guests. Mrs. Millikin's edibles and delectables will be featured with many unusual seasonal decorations on display.
