A Time Remembered Event Flyer

A Time Remembered - Saturday, March 9, 2019

Step back in Decatur's history to the era of 1915 for an elegant dinner followed by the sizzling true-life entertainment, "A Time to Remember," based on actual local events of the time. The evening is hosted by the James Millikin Homestead, and proceeds benefit the restoration, outreach, preservation, and educational activities of the Homestead.

6pm: cocktails

7pm: dinner

University Commons, Millikin University. Black tie is optional, and 1915 Edwardian-style attire is welcome.

The evening's entertainment is based on the book "The Forgotten Life of Sarah Grady," by local author Mary Lynn, which tells the true-life story of Sarah's tumultuous life in the early 1900s.

Reservations are $100 per person and sponsorship opportunities are available.

Children's Tea - Saturday, June 23, 2018

The James Millikin Homestead Children's Tea is for boys and girls of all ages.

Tea and cold beverages will be served along with finger sandwiches, fruits, and sweets for children and adults to enjoy.

Activities for children include a tour of the Millikin Homestead with a fun "Seek and Find" activity as they seek and learn all about the Millikin Homestead and the daily lives of Mr. & Mrs. Millikin.

Each child will have the opportunity to make a craft to take home with them.

The cost for the Children's Tea is $10.00 for children and adults. Major credit cards are accepted, and checks may be made payable to the James Millikin Homestead, Inc. and mailed to:

Party Celebrating Mr. Millikin's 191st Birthday - Tuesday, July 31, 2018

A party to celebrate James Millikin's 191st birthday will be given on the Homestead lawn, Tuesday, July 31st, featuring music by the Greater Decatur Youth Band & Summer Strings Program.

This event is free and open to the public.



Christmas Open House - Sunday, December 2, 2018

A tea and open house for the public is held annually in December. Delicious refreshments are served, and music groups from the Decatur area entertain the guests. Mrs. Millikin's edibles and delectables will be featured with many unusual seasonal decorations on display.

The James Millikin Homestead Board will host their annual Holiday Open House this year Sunday, December 2nd. The Homestead will be open for members and the public from 12:30pm-4:30pm. Christmas punch, cookies, and music are free for those who wish to come and enjoy the beauty of the Homestead festively decorated for the holiday season.

We will also be having our Sweet Treats Bakery with wonderful homemade baked goods for sale. All the items will be already packaged and wrapped for gift giving or for you to take home and enjoy with your family.

No Room at the Inn: Nativity Display - Sunday, December 9, 2018

Join the Homestead for a Nativity display from 1-5pm. A display of a variety of nativity styles, from vintage to modern, loaned to the Homestead by local residents. Adults $5 each, children 13 and younger are free. Pay at the door. No reservations necessary. Complimentary refreshments.
