The Homestead, Inc.

The Homestead, Inc., is a not for profit corporation created in 1979. The mission of the Homstead, Inc., is to restore and preserve the interior of this irreplaceable Decatur landmark, thereby raising community awareness of our historical heritage and promoting preservation for the future generations.

Another major purpose of the Homestead, Inc., is to oversee and help raise funding for major restorations on the homestead. Some previous restoration projects have included the parlor ceilings, dining room ceilings, and stained glass windows. The next restoration project is the ceiling frescoe in the master bedroom on the second floor.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are important to the Homestead's being because they expand resources and create ties to the community. A great way to get involved is to volunteer to help at the Victorian Doll Tea. Additionally, tour guides are always needed to provide knowledgeable tours of the Homestead for visitors of all ages.
